the black and gold posters above work the best as they are bold and the information wanted is easy to read and follow.


the label design with the red boarder and black inside works best on a white background, because due to the white space the impact of the black eye catching.


making the pitchforks too big, makes the layout look over crowded and it also takes away the origional subtle resoning for having the pitchforks.

MAKING THE MOCK UP

here i have looked into different paper stocks which complement the design and colors chossen for the bottel design. i have looked at stocks which could be used when it comes to doing labels/ packageing and booklets for the bottels.

FRONT BOTTLE LABELS

Here are a selection of some of my proffered labels for the front of the Bacardi bottle for the DEVIL DRINK. I have decided to limit the colours to white/black/red and gold. this will allow me to make the Angel bottle more consistent with the Devil one.

the above bottle design works the best as it doesn't over complicate the design and the information is delivered across well. all the subtle icons have enough space to be noticed.

using a red outline around the bottom label doesn't work well on the above label, it makes the two different labels have too much contrast, it also doesn't work with the Bacardi logo.


Ithink that the black and red label brings across the information well however i don't think that it would work on the bottle as the use of to much back will make the bottle look slightly tacky, it may also contrast with the contents of the bottle

above are some type variations for the for bottom label for the front of the bottle, i have experimenting with how i am going include colour and separate the information.

LABEL IDEAS

I have experimented with different layouts and colour variations for the front label of bottle.
i have decided to use a stylised shape rather than just a square or rectangle, the shape i have use has pointed edges to bring across the devil feel. the use of the rams head at the top of the labels also gives suggestion to the label looking like devil wings. therefor the angel label shape will have to be more rounded.

GOATS HEAD VECTOR

Here are some variations for the goats head, i have experimented with the quality of line used as it will express a movement for the image, they have a devilish feel to them as they look distorted. however this may look a bit too dark and take away the connotations of flirtation.

i no that goats heads are not particularly flirtatious, however used it mainly for the subtly it creates.

i have also incorporated a heart into the design of the goats head. this is so it looks more interesting and stills gives reference to both devil and flirtation.

i will also be able to incorporate a hat into the harp so they work well as a set.

the wings used in the last four variations over complicate the designs and make them have too much to focus on. this takes away the overall appeal to the layout of type and other stronger references such as the goats head.

ICON IDEAS/ BOTTLE DEVELOPMENT

here are some more initial ideas design sheets for the design work which will be on the bottle.

i have looked into other icons which i may be able to use within the designs for the devil and angel. the obvious ones to use would be :

DEVIL and ANGEL WINGS or HALO and HORNS

however i have looked deeper into the connotations and picked out some of the more subtle references. i have use a GOATS head to reference a devil and a HARP to reference an angel.

these icons can be included in the previous compositions of type to create a stronger overal feel.
