TYPEFACE- EXPERIMENTING

i have experimented with a range of different typefaces, this is for the title/ cover logo and other type for the packaging. the sans serif typefaces such as ITC avant garde make the design look really modern, there is not enough movement in the letters to create the look wanted for the logo.

i prefer the use of the Serif typefaces such as Baskeville, as there is a considerable difference in the letter forms as the typefaces goes through different weights and cases.

SET OF 3 T-SHIRTS (need to be vectored)

here are the final three designs for the t-shirts, i have decided to have a set of three tees, so each of the t-shirts has its own authentic feel, rather than having a larger range which for instance, may have the same t-shirt but a limited colour range. this would still work as a set however it would soil the authentic feel to each of the individual t-shirts. having the designs in full four colour and making the use of a white from the t-shirt as another colour within the design, works well because each of the designs have a different amount of each of the colours. for example the polar bear has more lylic than the walrus which has more blue.

i have decided to make the wolf slytliy different from the other tow designs, i have done this by making it fill only a small section of the bottom of the t-shirt, rather than the full bottom part like the walrus and the polar bear. so it so the set is broken up slightly, which will keep the audience interested and also so it has an extra limited feel from the other two, this will make it more intriguing for collectors.

WOLF tee- ideas

here are some variation for the layout of the wolf design, i have used an even amount of colour on the wolf so that it is seperate in the set from the polar bear which uses mostely purple, and the wallrus which uses mainly blue. this suggests that the wolf romes around all the area on the map.

WALLRUS tee ideas

here are the design for the wallurs, i have include more of the colour blue on the wallurs this is because wallrus ar more closer to water most of the time. this is hidden meaning within the design.

BEAR tee- tee 1 from set of 4

i have decided to use this t-shirt design for the Polar bear, this is because it makes more use of the space on the t-shirt and is different to typical t-shirt designs, this will help bring a more limited edition feel to the set of t-shirts.

i have decided to have the design only on the front of the t-shirt so the design is not lost by becoming over complected.

i have used more purple within the design for the polar bear, this will make it unique within the set. it also suggests that polar bears are more company found within the purple area of the map. this is a hidden meaning within my design.

BEAR tee- variations for sets

i have decided to use the purple and blue colour ways, this is because it uses fashionable colours which work with the theme of the t-shirts. i have chosen pastel colours within the range so that there is contrast is created within the design.

here are some more in depth colour variations for the logo T shirt design.

below are some variations for a design where i have used the polar bear part of the design only, i have been more creative with the layout of the design and considered the space on the t-shirt more.

here is a set of designs which uses a typical t shirt layout, this is not very creative as it has been used so many times, however it is still a popular layout for t-shirts which is becoming more in fashion, it is commonly used with black and white photos on T-shirts.

here is another design which makes more use of the space on the t shirt, however it covers a large amount of space on the center part of the t-shirt which makes the sleeves look odd, this style of design may be risky because it makes the style look very loud and complex, this will lose the subtle interest and hidden content of the image and make it look like a style of pattern, which is not my intention.

POLAR BEAR MAP-new eyes idea (sixpack logo)

rather than having symbols of trees for the eyes on the animals, i have decided to use the sixpack logo. this is so there is consistency throughout all the animal map illustrations, it is also another subtle detail, which will create more hidden value to the design.

T-SHIRT ideas

After my first crit on the sixpack brief i found that the colour ways which used the blues and purples worked the best, as they will appeal to the target market and also work well as a colour set for the theme. here are some ideas for t-shirt deigns. i have looked at some standard ways for which i can use the logo on the t-shirt however these look too similar to existing designs, therefore will not look very limited.

the design below is a one colour print on a light blue t-shirt which is again a fairly common layout for a t-shirt design.

i have experimented more with this design, it looks more different, however the use of colourless selves makes the design look unconsidered, it is also harder to make out the image of the bear.

COMBINING-sixpack logo with arctic circle

due to the centre of the sixpack logo having an empty circle in the middle, i have decided to incorporate my logo for the arctic circle with in it. because sixpack don't usely have anything interfering with the logo, this will create more of a limited edtion appeal to my t-shirt range. this will crate more interest and make it feel like on of a kind range.

NEW A5 CARDS-using only foil blocking

here are some variation in which i have used foiling. i can use foiling only as another print technique to make the logo and the key word in each of the cards stand out from the rest of the design, however i still need to keep the foil so it is not over used, the use of foil can work well, my intention is to add more class to the designs so i will have to pick out the bits of the design, which i believe need recognition and apply the right amount of foiling to it without over complicating the design.

mock up- STOCKS

here are some stock experiments,
i have experimented with different stocks which will work well with the design and have a more masculine feel to them.

here i have printed the designs onto a light grey stock, using some of my earlier designs. however the stock colour makes the cards look very mercy and therefore the colours and design is lost due o the colour f the stock, my intention was to make the cards look authentic, however this stock makes the cards look like old newspapers. this will mot be appealing as fathers day cards, the aesthetics will be lost on this stock.

i have also printed some of the more recent designs onto a more lighter colour stock it is a very pale cream, this stock works well. due to the colours i have chosen for the cards, which are dark colours. the use of this light sand colour stock, subtly contrasts with the designs and helps the type merge in with the background colours without retracting the design. it will also allow the foiling to work better with the design as it will sit nicely with the two different colours and allow attention to be drawn to it. the colour of the stock has also got authentic connotations, as it is a close colour to parchment which is used on certificates and other authentic documents, this will make the cards look classy and bring across a style and feel which will appeal to fathers.

UNSUCCESSFUL mock up-idea needs re thinking.
i have mad a quick mockup idea for the worlds LAZIEST dad card, the mock up has turned out unsuccessful. as the overall design looks too busy. even though the initial idea is simplistic, the use of too many print techniques is proving to be over welming in a negative way. the mock up of the spot varnish section makes the card look tacky it look like tape has been stuck across the card. this is because it contrasts too much with the white type and the foiling.

this mockup has helped me to make some design decisions, it has informed me that i was using spot varnishing with out consideration, therefore it is unnecessary and will not make the design look any better. it also have made me think and consider what print techniques i'm going to use and if they will work with the design.

A5 CARDS- with logos- new colour

i have designed and selected the final icons which will be on the cards.
i have also changed the colours for the COOLEST and FUNNIEST cards. i have made the colours more lighter than the original colours which i had selected. this is because the COOLEST was too dark and didn't reference the word. Also the FUNNIEST was becoming too over welming and the foiling and type was beginning to be lost in the colour,

the new colour for FUNNIEST also resembles a light hearted feel which also works with the word. the chosen colours also work better as a set, and create a variation of colours which will appeal to fathers and also make reference to the words on the cards.

it will be good to use alternate use of foiling on the cards, such as gold/silver. this will help the set to not look repetitive and it will also make the colours for the cards standout if i apply silver and gold to the appropriate cards.
