RATIONAL/ STATEMENT OF INTENT/ SELECTED BRIEFS
Rationale
• I want to develop a practice into hand drawn illustration and character design, I would also like to use type as image within my work, which will help me produce work with creative outcomes and develop my skills in combining type and image.
• I will continue investigating the relationship between the hand made and digital processes, in the production of well crafted, vibrant, well informed, print based design.
• I am inspired by bold designs that have subtlety, attention to detail & hidden meaning; these are elements, which I would like to include within my work.
• I like to produce work, which works as a set or a series, this shows variation, I also like to have a limited edition value to my work. Which brings across that my work is authentic or a collectable.
• This year I want to produce work which will leave me with a strong portfolio, which is focused and shows me as a designer. A portfolio that brings across a style and covers a range of design skills.
Statement of Intent
• to achieve the things I would like to accomplish this year, I will produce work for briefs and personal work, which will allow me develop skills in the areas of design which I will be specialising in .
• I will choose briefs which will help me develop my skills in screen printing, I will experiment with different print techniques and work with limitation of colour, this will help me understand the process more and help me produce more stronger pieces of work in this area.
• I will also produce work for T-shirts (textile design) by using the screen-printing process, this will open up a range of possibilities for me to develop my skills within this area of design.
• I will develop my skills in editorial design, by producing illustrated books which show a creative combination of type and image, I will also include editorial design as much as I can, as secondary products within briefs which I produce. For example information booklets which come with t-shirts.
• I will creatively combine topography with my image work, which will help me to create a style of work which I will be able to use when answering the majority of my briefs. This style will work best when I am answering poster briefs for example.
• I will develop my skills in other aspects of print design, such as packaging, this will be challenging as it will help me to develop a better understanding of professionally designed outcomes, it will also allow me to incorporate my skills in 3d craft into actual deign work. This will give me a chance to produce unique packaging, which is also designed well in terms of typography and layout.

Use an interesting layout for the typography, by setting constraints and follow a grid system.
